Garage-Born, Accelerator-Raised.
What started as Beth “pretending” to run unspun through a master’s class called Design Garage (d.Garage) — building scrappy early 3D weaving prototypes — became real when she graduated and incorporated unspun through the Summer@Highland accelerator at Highland Capital Partners. Making unspun officially official.
2018
Jeans, but make them custom.
In 2018, we developed our first prototype of custom-fit jeans utilizing 3D body scanning technology. What started as a denim brand was really an experiment: to learn the ins and outs of fashion, master denim production, and prove that a zero-inventory model could actually work. Along the way, we realized something bigger — that 3D weaving, not just better jeans, was the key to reshaping the industry’s future.
2018
3rdward 'a star is woven' the first iteration of what eventually became VEGA.
We weren’t just building a brand—we were quietly building the future of manufacturing. Hardware takes time: it’s slower, riskier, and far more expensive. While experiments in fit and software happened in plain sight, the real breakthrough was hidden away in our early prototypes. This was one of the very first iterations of what would later evolve into Vega™—the machine at the heart of unspun.

The shape shifter
As our tech leveled up, so did the weaving. Using Vega™, we created the world’s first 3D woven tube that could actually change diameter as it was being made — proving that textiles don’t have to be flat, and opening the door to entirely new possibilities.

Collina Strada x unspun™ jeans hit the runway at NYFW.
We brought custom-fit denim to NYFW SS23 with Collina Strada. Combining our custom-fit patternmaking with Hillary Taymour’s customized design, we developed a one of a kind jean that would wear as well as it dazzled. Each model took a body scan on the unspun™ app, allowing our fit algorithms to assemble a bespoke pattern just for them.
