unspun is a fashion and technology company. Our mission is to reduce global human carbon emissions by 1%. We're striving to achieve this benchmark by changing how clothes are made and how clothes are sold.

We started by doing that in two ways, by developing 3D weaving technology and by selling custom-fit jeans.

For several years, we offered custom-fit jeans made on demand, using body scanning and digital fit technology. Those jeans helped thousands of people experience what clothing could be when it was made for them, not for “sizes.”

We’ve now wound down our custom-fit denim line to dedicate all of our focus and resources to Vega, our 3D weaving platform. Vega is the technology that will allow us — and our brand and manufacturing partners — to scale the kind of localized, waste-free production our jeans were only the beginning of.

So while you can’t order jeans from us anymore (sniff, sniff..) the best parts of what we pioneered (fit, on-demand, sustainability) are continuing in a bigger, more impactful way. And, while that’s a little bittersweet, it’s also exciting — because when we relaunch custom-fit, it will be with our Vega 3D weaving technology. That’s where we’re focusing our energy now.

Why did you stop selling jeans?

Because we’re going bigger. Running a direct-to-consumer jeans brand and developing new manufacturing technology at the same time was stretching our small team in two directions. We chose to put 100% of our energy into Vega 3D weaving — the core innovation that will help the entire industry reduce waste and overproduction.

What is Vega?

Vega is our proprietary 3D weaving machine. Instead of cutting fabric and sewing it together, Vega weaves finished garments directly, on demand, with dramatically less waste and labor. It’s built to power regional, automated production hubs around the world.

Can I still get custom-fit jeans?

Not at the moment. We’ve stopped taking jeans orders so we can fully dedicate ourselves to deploying Vega with our brand and manufacturing partners. That said, custom fit is still a huge part of our long-term vision — and as Vega grows, you’ll see it come back in new ways.
